Women are "too tired to keep having this conversation". This post speaks to every woman who has been called 💥 "too" 💥 something in her career. Kelly-Ann Corrigan thank you for having the courage to post this- it impacted me positively and profoundly.
👉 Women, speak up and be you.
👉 Who you are and what you bring to the table is what is needed for the role- that's why they hired you.
👉 Don't settle for labels or over course correct.
Here is a non-exhaustive list of things I've been "too much" of in my career: "Too aggressive" "Too likable" "Too nice" "Too pushy" "Too bossy" "Too weak" "Too soft" "Too mean" "Too angry"
"Too sensitive" "Too quiet" People are quick to categorize women as "too something" - perceiving our stance on an issue to be "extreme" and driven by our emotions. Women: be self aware, know yourself, and don't over course correct when you get this type of feedback. Everyone: next time you're giving feedback to any woman colleague, think twice before telling her she's "too something". We've been told all our lives we're "too something" to lead. And what we really are is too tired to keep having this conversation.
