Transformation; when does it happen in your career?

The butterfly, which represents transformation goes through many phases before it displays its full beauty. It was a secret, until now, that I have a tattoo of a butterfly, of which I got in my mid 30's. Yes, I have others.

For me, it represented a pivotal moment in my life where I felt I was transforming into someone different.

Notably, this occurred for me in my professional career in my 40's. And, what happens when you begin this transformation? For me, it was growth. It was a realization of what matters to me in life now is vastly different than before.

It was a significant moment when I stopped pacing in my bathroom at 1am because I knew there was no way the deal was going to close by the next day. It was the moment when I started realizing my work was just that - work.

When you realize work is just work and yet you can still be incredibly successful- it's like letting go of a piece of stress you've harbored for years.

Some people completely change their careers when they go through this transformation and they go in a totally new direction. Some, stay in the same field but shift direction.
