Kids don’t owe you anything

You know how I turn to writing when I need to get things off my chest, and today’s one of those days. I’m feeling pretty angry right now.
I saw a post where a mom claimed her kids have to love her just because she’s their mom. If you think like this, you’re wrong.
Kids are their own people, just like we are. They have their own thoughts, dreams, and feelings. As parents, it’s our job to raise them, teach them, love them, admit our mistakes, and guide them. We need to respect who they are and give them the freedom to express themselves.
We also have to love them unconditionally, provide a safe home, and meet their basic needs. Parenting is a choice we made, and it doesn’t give us the right to demand love in return. Our kids didn’t ask to be born.
Being a parent doesn’t mean you automatically get love and respect. You can’t force it. If you guide them with unconditional love and set firm boundaries, they’ll choose to love and respect you on their own.
