"Failure is not an option".
Said the young 20 something year old me (pictured in my first work photo).
In 2004, with a toddler and a baby, while being an at-home-mom, I started a recruiting company by cold calling on my back deck during nap time. LinkedIn, was also a toddler! :)
Finding jobs for those I knew and helping companies find talent became my "gig" work before gig work was a thing.
On my first day, in my first corporate office, I put a sticky note on my laptop. I wrote, "Failure is not an option" ...and the hustle began.
My first employees Meg Tinsley, Allison Moore, Katie Somerville were part of my relentless need not to fail!
Then, between 2009-2010, with the recession, I failed in a HUGE way.
-> I had to lay off all my employees
-> I was going through a divorce and a newly single mom of a now 4 and 5 year old (no child support and no alimony).
-> I was in a significant car accident, having been hit by a mack truck, totaling my car and sustaining major back injuries.
This was an all-time low for me. Then I changed the self-talk...
Insert new sticky note -> -> ->. "Failure is the ONLY option"
I am forever grateful for that lesson and all the lessons in between!
Heading into 2022, if you feel like you are failing, give yourself some grace. There is a lesson to be learned that will lead you to success!
2022 New Years resolution- The same as every year before! Failure, lessons, success, and repeat!
